Tan hardcover with black lettering. Very little edgewear. Dust jacket is worn and chipped on edges but colors remain in sharp contrast. Now in protective cover. Decorative endpages, rough cut pages. Book is sturdy and square. Very nice.

 1854 is the year on the title page but there is a listing of LB books dated 1859. Little Brown and Company, Boston. Six volume set. All in very nice condition. Worn on edges as would be suggested by a book over 150 years old. Volumes are a thick charcoal steely black clothe over board, with leather paste-on for title on spine. Sewn bindings have really held up over time and all the volumes are quite square and sturdy. Owner name in elegant script dated 1902 . All other volumes free from previous owner marks. Volume two has a break in the binding, still intact but distinct at page 252. All else very good on this fine example of mid19th century publishing.
